Separate trainer power, cadence and resistance control

Map data sources and keep a single device responsible for changing resistance.

A role is not the same as a radio connection

Zwift asks for different kinds of information and control. A trainer may supply several of them over one connection, while a power meter or cadence sensor can supply a separate source. Use the role you intend, then test the actual numbers. Selecting a sensor name alone does not establish that every role is supported.

Choose one resistance-control owner

Decide which app will send the workout or gradient commands. Configure other connected applications for passive recording where supported. If resistance changes unexpectedly, simplify to one app and one connection before adding the rest of the setup back. Connection capacity and control ownership solve different problems.

Treat protocol support as explicit

Bluetooth, ANT+ power and ANT+ trainer control are not interchangeable labels. A computer receiver must support the protocol and the application must support the relevant profile. When you choose the manual ANT+ route, check both the trainer’s control path and each sensor’s data path. An ANT+ alternative can be useful for a separate recorder, but it must exist on both ends.
